Why should VUSD teachers worry?

Why should VUSD teachers worry?

EVALUATIONS ALL NON-COMMITTAL, NO COMPLIMENTS EVER

No matter how glowing your teacher evaluations were four or five years ago, under the Bales regime, your new evaluations only say “meets standards” or “does not meet standards.”

A SET UP?

Could this new non-committal teacher evaluation be a set up for being able to fire any teacher at any time no matter how stellar that teacher’s classroom performance? You better consider that possibility.

NO PERSONALIZED LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION FOR 'RIFTED' TEACHERS

Even the very best of our young teachers who were let go at the end of last year were not given personalized letters of reference from their administrators. Why? The principals were forbidden to do so by the Bales Regime.

Instead if a teacher asked for a letter of reference the principals were only allowed to give them a form letter written by one of the Bales Bunch at the district office that had a series of statements like attends staff meetings, comes to work on time, etc. Nothing personal at all.

Wonderful young teachers, let go due to reduced student enrollment and through no fault of their own, were not given anything to help them get a job in another district. Why? A directive from Bales.

Feeling a little uneasy yet?

LINDAMOOD-BELL TRAINERS SENT TO HELP OR TO SPY?

Sandy Gecewicz one on Bales Bunch from Colorado has repeatedly sent Lindamood-Bell ‘trainers’ do evaluate how well students are learning. These trainers do not have teaching credentials let alone administrative credentials required to evaluate teachers. Yet they are making written evaluations of the teachers.

These “trainers” are very nice young people but they do not have the training or classroom experience to do evaluations.

GECEWICZ FAILS TO FOLLOW CONTRACT, AGAIN!

Last year Gecewicz was forced to stop the practice at several schools thanks to union intervention. The VTA pointed out that evaluations by non-administrators is a contract violation. Gecewicz was supposed to have acknowledged this but again this fall more “trainers” have been sent out to evaluate? Why?

GIBSON CALLS FOR FIRINIG 10% OF TEACHERS EVERY YEAR

How about the editorial in the summer of 1997 written by Jim Gibson board president and advocating Jack Welch's “fire 10% of the workers a year” management policy in VUSD? (Jack Welch is the former CEO of General Electric--His massive over-the-top golden parachute financial and health benefits made headlines when he retired)

GUFFANTI IMPLIES VUSD TEACHERS ARE LAZY

How about Guffanti in his frequent editorials calling teachers lazy and saying that “they do not want to work”? Guffanti has said repeatedly that the only reason there are complaints about Bales is because for the first time ever VUSD teachers are being asked to actually do their job and teach. Gee before Bales, I guess we just had 7 hour parties every day in our classrooms.

GETTING RID OF OLDER 'TIRED' TEACHERS

If not those, what about the Guffanti supporters who constantly complain about older teachers, calling them deadwood and saying they should be let go because they are too tired to make efforts to teach anymore?

Elections matter!
