Guffanti mis-use of official district email for his campaign

Guffanti mis-used an official VUSD email form the director of transportation to all school bus drivers instructing them not to use Tiger Tail and Coventry as a short cut, only to drop off students.*

How did he misuse it? He took the email put his name and campaign information on the back, took credit for the email and made hundreds of copies which he distributed to parents picking up their children after school at Beaumont. ( I am guessing he went door to door in the neighborhood as well. I have not yet been able to verify the door to door part.)

Using OFFICIAL VUSD documents for campaign purposes in a violation of campaign laws, the VUSD school board code of conduct and just plain unethical. It is a kind of cheating. Behaviors like these are typical for Guffanti during the election season.

Let's contrast Guffanti's actions to the his complaints and demands trying to limit the VTA's right to contact its members. Guffanti has directed the VUSD administration to tell the VTA president that the VTA may not use the teacher's mailboxes to communicate anything about the political campaign. He has seen to it that the VTA cannot use the district email to contact its members about the campaign or the endorsement process. Recently the VTA president was told that VTA reps can only notify members of meetings but CANNOT PUT ANY AGENDA ITEMS FOR THAT MEETING IN THE DISTRICT EMAIL!!!!!

He even cried to the superintendent about teachers putting campaign signs in their car windows. He wanted all those signs out of the windows of teacher PERSONAL VEHICLES!

Teachers are no longer allowed to wear campaign buttons on their clothes while at school.

Guffanti is terrified of Teacher Empowerment. He and his fellow travelers feel free to call teachers lazy and say that they work half time yet get full time pay. But teachers and VUSD staff are not free to respond. He has one standard of behavior for himself and his allies but a completely different one for district employees.

*The issue on Tiger Tail and Coventry is that they are residential streets which happen to form the third side (hypotenuse) of a triangle of streets. Using them is much quicker than going around the other two sides. The residents have had problems for years with through traffic racing past their homes. Also it is a very old neighborhood and there are no side walks. The streets in addition are quite narrow. There is really no place for pedestrians (school children) to get off the road. Hence the residents of those streets would be grateful for any reduction in traffic like getting school buses off their roads. I am guessing that one of the residents called the district and the email to the drivers was the response. Guffanti saw a political opportunity and took it using an illegal method.

* I have a copy of the district email that Guffanti used as part of his campaign literature in violation of district policies and will try to post a picture of it here.
