Questions for NCTimes Blog Editor

NCTIMES COMMENT LETTER REFUSES TO PUBLISH PRO PUBLIC ED COMMENTS

I sent the comment below to the blog editor of the NCTimes who refused to post four of my comments yesterday, not that my comments are so great. But I was trying to respond to the mis-information, pro-Guffanti/Anderson posts. Not only was I not allowed to respond apparently neither was much of any one else on "our" side. A person who was unfamiliar with the comment editor's blog posting bias and who read the comments yesterday would think that there was very little support for Jaka, Chunka and Lilly based on the comments posted on the blog.

I decided to write a frank letter to the blog editor and point out that it was bad business to be so very partisan. My letter is below. I sent it as a comment to be posted, but obviously it will not be.

CAN NCTIMES AFFORD TO ALIENATE HALF ITS SUBSCRIBERS?

Vista Schools blog editor comment sent to NCTimes comment/blog editor at 1:18pm Saturday, October 11, 2008:

All right, I get it you are a partisan. You want Guffanti and Anderson in at VUSD. I know your side does not believe in being fair when "so much is at stake", but what about good business practices? Can you afford to alienate the half of your audience that does not like the extremist politics and policies of Guffanti and Anderson?

You refused to post four of my comments yesterday. You know that they did not violate any part of your rules about comments. (Weird only this paper has these “rules” the New York Times allows far greater latitude with posting by “rationals” than you folks do.)

PATTY ANDERSON PUBLISHES EXTREMIST LETTERS UNDER DIFFERENT NAME

Two of my attempts yesterday showed the link between Patty Anderson and Stan Johnson and their extremist political views. If Patty Anderson, a candidate for elected office' has a history of writing anti-teacher union and anti-school bond letters to the editor under a different name (Patricia A. Johnson) that would be news to most papers. Not yours apparently.

GUFFANTI LINKED TO CREATIONISTS

My third attempt showed the link between science denial and Dr. Stephen Guffanti. I gave an actual Guffanti quote in which he denied evolution and the location that the quote could be found on the web, not the web address (which violates your “comment policy”).

GUFFANTI/GIBSON DELAYS COST VUSD MILLIONS AND YEARS WITHOUT 3RD HS

The fourth told why the third VUSD high school had not been built. I have posted it before. I have even given quotes from your NCTimes articles in 2003-2005 that demonstrate that it was the stalling of Guffanti and Gibson that kept us from having a our third VUSD high school. Their stalling tactics were at least a contributing factor. An independent observer would easily conclude that their stalling was likely the chief reason for the three years of delay and millions of dollars in additional cost.

NCTIMES BECOMING A PROPAGANDA RAG

Your newspaper is becoming a propaganda rag like Newsmax, the New York Post, and the Washington Times. When you refuse to allow one side to post and allow the other side to call Elizabeth Jaka "a meddling mom," or Carol Herrera EVIL in capital letters and inflammatory language like "union puppet" to describe elected school board members, but do not allow well written, fact based, posts to respond; you lose all credibility as an impartial news source. (You also allowed Jim Trageser's weird, delusion ranting about a nationwide conspiracy against Christians causing the 1994 VUSD board recall.)

AS NCTIMES CREDIBILITY GOES, SO DOES HALF OF ITS SUBSCRIBERS

With credibility gone, half your audience goes as well. Do you read your own paper? You do realize an article in today’s paper confirms half of your audience consists of Democrats? half this county is Democrat? Add in the Rational Republicans, traditonal Republicans and Independents and there are far more of us then the handful of extremists that support Guffanti, Anderson, and Fernandez. Ignore us at your financial peril.

Have you noticed that the New York Post and the Washington Times LOSE money every year? They stay in business only because of wealthy owners. Who is going to keep you folks in business?
