Today the campaign signs went up in Vista. No surprise here, Patty Anderson is truth challenged when it comes to campaign signs. Just as she did two years ago, she has put up signs which give the false impression that she is endorsed by the teachers.
Her signs say, "Teachers for Patty Anderson'" yet she WAS NOT ENDORSED by the teachers. City Council members have signs that say "Fire fighters for" but only on the signs of the candidates that were actually endorsed by the firefighters. Other city council candidates that were not endorsed do not use the slogan on their signs. That is basic campaign etiquette. That is personal honesty.
While her disingenuous use of the word teachers on her campaign sign is one level of dishonest adding the word "for" brings a second level of deception. The word "for" after "teacher" gives the appearance that the teachers not only endorsed her but also paid for her signs. Of course they did not do either. But that is not all. Anderson decided to go for a third level of deception. This one was a graphic deception, a picture of an apple. She put the same (well extremely similar) "apple" logo on her signs that has been used for the last fourteen years by the Vista Teacher's Association. If she needed a school board logo why not a simple stick drawing of a school house? Well, we know why, she wanted to confuse voters. She could not get teachers to endorse her and she wanted their endorsement so much that she just had to make it up herself.
Her signs, slogan and logo are purposeful. She is trying to get votes anyway she can. The method she uses to trick people into giving her votes does not matter to her, only getting those votes is important. I guess she is in the group that believes the ends justify the means. She has carefully crafted a sign to attempt to get uniformed voters to be confused into thinking that she was endorsed by the VTA. Apparently getting a political office is more important than her ethics.
She is NOT recommended by the Vista Teacher's Association in this election cycle or the last one.
As a practicing Christian who regularly attends North Coast Church, Patty Anderson is suppose to abide by the ten commandments one of which is, "Thou shall not bear false witness." I guess Patty considers them the "ten suggestions."
