PRO public education blogger response to Joan Brubaker Forum

The argument of total control continues to be a great item of debate for the VUSD haters. But to say that Joyce Bales is the reason for test score growth is completely disingenuous.

If you actually call the Pueblo, CO school district, you'll find that they couldn't get rid of Bales fast enough. She compromised Pueblo financially and educationally and everyone back there knows it. VUSD is the only district that would hire her. Anywhere.
Again, ask other superintendents in the county of what they think of her . . .and you'll get an earful.

The VUSD trustees are doing the taxpayers a favor by phasing out the expensive Linda Mood Bell program. Ask yourselves this: Why have no other school district in Southern California chosen to use LMB, Joyce Bales baby? The answers are obvious.

And ask yourself another question: If Joyce Bales leadership is so great, then why do neighboring school districts (Oceanside, Escondido, San Marcos) perform as well or better on state testing w/o LMB? What do they know that Joyce Bales does not? And why do those other cities have so few naysayers? To charge that all of the VUSD problems are because of the teachers is so humorous, it doesn't need response.
