ANTI Secret Meeting with Bales results in illegal firing of RBVHS baseball coach

Our ANTI friends love to scream hysterically about an illegal "secret' board meeting that was not secret, was not a meeting in the formal sense of the word, was not illegal. All it was a chance convergence of three PRO public education board members in the same location for a VERY brief amount of time.

Yet our same ANTI friends organized a truly secret meeting with ANTI public education now former board member Stephen Guffanti to trash the stellar reputation of a championship varsity RBVHS baseball coach. The coach was NEVER notified and had no chance to defend himself contrary to VUSD personnel policies. The coach was fired illegally. To prevent lawsuits, he was re hired a month later.

Why aren't our ANTI friends going wild about their PLANNED secret meeting at which truly illegal and improper actions were taken?

Read the North County Times article here:

Here is a bit of the article:

"I have always respected the process, but to see the process violated in Leo Fletes' case is unnerving," Weins said. "The district should have followed its own athletic code, which outlines how complaints against district employees, such as coaches, should be handled.

"Not one person, from the (RBV) administration … to the people in this room has taken the time to meet with Leo Fletes about the complaints that surfaced three months ago."

Weins referenced a July meeting that school board member Stephen Guffanti organized at the home of friend Dan Piro for parents to voice their displeasure. Superintendent Dr. Joyce Bales also attended.

Weins also pointed out that Piro has no children in the RBV baseball program or at the school and that no written complaint came out of that meeting, which he claims is a violation of the athletic code.

"We are very concerned about the process in regard to Leo Fletes," Weins said.
